BECOMING A MEMBER

Please call the office (812-232-1193) if you are interested in joining our congregation.  We suggest you visit the Unitarian Universalist Association Website for detailed information about what Unitarian Universalism is all about. Our Congregation, as with Unitarian Universalists everywhere, is open to all.

NEWSLETTER

Our monthly newsletter is sent to all members and friends of the church as either mail or as e-mail.  If you wish to be on our mailing list, please sign our guest book including your address and we will gladly send it to you. The First Unitarian Universalist News  is published at the end of every month.

INFANT DEDICATIONS

Unitarian Universalists do not believe that children require cleansing from "sin" at birth. Instead we have a ceremony in which parents and the congregation welcome the newborn to the community and pledge to take seriously our mutual responsibilities for the child's nurture.  Dedications are generally included in a Sunday service, scheduled at the convenience of the family.  Please contact the office (812-232-1193 or uuputer@yahoo.com) to schedule a dedication.

MARRIAGE AND COMMITMENTS CEREMONIES

We will perform wedding ceremonies for members (at no charge) and non-members (for a fee).  One of several of our guest ministers may perform the ceremony. They meet with each couple and they work with them to design a ceremony which expresses the commitment which they are making to their relationship.  Ours is one of a few in Terre Haute in which the ministers are free to perform such ceremonies as same-sex couples.  Please contact the office for more information or to schedule a marriage commitment ceremony.

MEMORIAL SERVICES

The death of those we love is one of the greatest challenges we face.  Acknowledging the pain of loss, we conceive of Memorial Services and Funerals as "Celebrations of Life", emphasizing that the pain is related to the joy we had from sharing life with the deceased.  Please contact the office for more information or to schedule a Memorial Service.
