PLANET IN PERIL by Dr. Dennis Evers
This will be a presentation of issues concerning the Global Climate Change phenomenon, and what we are doing, and trying to do about it, based on my 'Triple Bottom Line' resource recovery biotechnology. Social Action Committee member, Cathy McGuire, and a member of the planning committee for the Women Build for Wabash Valley Habitat for Humanity, Bev Bitzegaio, will tell us how to get involved.  Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide Christian ministry that has built 300,000 homes for low income people.  The speakers will describe the mission of Habitat for Humanity, its process of helping low income people obtain decent and affordable housing, and its connection to UU principles.  The Women Build project will be highlighted.
there will be a special segment for the children of the Congregation who will hear a story about Habitat.
Cathy McGuire is a longtime member of First UU Congregation and is a local peace and justice activist.  Bev Bitzgaio has recently begun attending our Congregation and works in the College of Technology at ISU.  Bev and UU member Fern Cawley are both serving on the Women Build project planning committee.  This is the second Women Build for Bev.

SECRET LIFE OF BEES, ANTS AND OTHER INTELLIGENT BEINGS - by Rev. Amy Kindred
Call it what you will, intelligence or rote memory finely tuned by evolution, bees and ants are amazing critters. The language of bees expressed in a complicated dance lets others in the colony know where to find food. Ants have established an incredibly complex ventilation system that removes carbon dioxide from ant hills, or cities, and brings in fresh air. These little wizards have also figured out how to drain waste into special chambers were it is recycled.  This morning we celebrate life lessons from wee ones that buzz and those that work relentlessly to survive.

Sunday, April 26 at 12:00 p.m. - Congregational Meeting
It will take place after the service and we will be voting on important congregational matters.  All who are interested may attend.  However, only members will be allowed to vote.
